Alice Mothiba is the Advocacy Manager at Tshwaranang Legal Advocacy Centre (TLAC). Previously, she was an associate in the Legal Services Division of Sakhumnotho Consulting. Prior to this she worked as a High Court Judge's registrar at the Witwatersrand Local Division. She is a fellow of the Centre for Women and Democracy, Seattle, Washington. (2003).
In her work at TLAC she developed policies and regulations relating to implementation of various legislation in the gender legal sector. She is chairperson of the programs committee within the steering committee of the Child support campaign and Gauteng Family Court Network.
She has authored chapters in various books including TLAC's publication, "What about the Children? The silent voices in maintenance". She has also developed learnerships as well as training programs for Department of Justice and Constitutional Development on Family Law. She serves as the media liaison of the company and has contributed opinion pieces for both print and electronic media. She delivered papers at the 1st Southern Africa Chapter of Women Judges (2004), Commission on Gender Equality's national consultative process on gender based violence (2003) and Medical Research Council International conference on HIV/AIDS and Gender (2003).
She manages various campaigns including the 16 Days of Activism on no violence against women and children. She previously has been the recipient of the 1990 Sowetan Nation Building Business Plan Award. While at University, Alice received the University of the Witwatersrand Academic Merit award in 1992 as well as being a Junior Achiever, Wits Business School Program.
